The Spartanburg County Democratic Party would like to welcome and send a big thank you to the organization committee of the Spartanburg Young Democrats. In just a short period of time, this group has been working steadily to reorganize the local group here in Spartanburg County. Several of the members also attended the SC Young Democrats Convention that was held in Aiken in May. One of the first tasks the group has undertaken was to start a petition drive for the Upstate Pride Festival and March. They have received over 1000 signatures in support of Spartanburg County Government issuing a proclamation recognizing this event. As Young Democrats, they recognize the unfair treatment and discriminatory behavior tax paying citizens and residents of this county who organize and participate in the Upstate Pride Festival have received from the leadership of the Republican Controlled Spartanburg County Council. The people of Spartanburg County can count on our local Democratic Party and Young Democrats organization to speak out for and advocate for the civil rights of all tax paying citizens who reside here in Spartanburg.
Our Young Democrats organizing committee will be holding a general meeting and elections by the end of June. Please thank and offer support to these fine young people when you meet them in the future: Jason Easley, Mary Kennedy, Jake Hinson, Adam Rankin, Daisy Chanthala, Hirak Pati, and Candace Choice.
